How to set up the Textify AI keyboard on iPhone

Installing a keyboard app and enabling its keyboard are two separate steps on iPhone. Once Textify is added, you can switch to it while writing in apps that support third-party keyboards.

Add Textify to your keyboards

Start in a note containing non-sensitive sample text. Some apps and secure input fields use the system keyboard instead of third-party keyboards, so a password field is not a useful setup test.

  1. Install Textify from the App Store and open it. Follow the keyboard setup shown in the app. Textify requires iOS 17 or later.
  2. In iPhone Settings, open General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard. Choose Textify from the available third-party keyboards.
  3. Open a normal text field, such as a new note. Touch and hold the globe or keyboard-switch key and choose Textify.

Understand the Full Access step

Textify’s AI keyboard tools need an internet connection, which requires Full Access for the keyboard extension. Open Textify’s entry in the iPhone keyboard settings to review that permission. Read the app’s explanation and privacy policy before enabling it.

Full Access is a keyboard permission, not a paid plan. Feature access and purchase options are separate. If you prefer not to enable the extension’s AI access, Textify also provides in-app Ask AI and email-writing tools.

Use only text you are comfortable submitting for AI processing. Remove passwords, payment details and private information from your practice examples.

Try a first grammar check

Type a short sample such as “I has a question about tomorrow meeting.” Open Check Grammar from Textify’s writing tools and review the suggestion. An edited version might be “I have a question about tomorrow’s meeting.” This is an illustrative edit, not a guaranteed generated response.

Check that the corrected sentence still means what you intended. Apply the edit only after reading it. For important messages, pay particular attention to names, dates, amounts and commitments; a fluent sentence can still contain an error.

Choose one tool at a time

You do not need to run every message through every tool. A brief reply may need only a grammar check, while a difficult email may benefit from drafting its facts first and adjusting tone second.

  • Check Grammar: start here when the meaning is right but spelling or grammar needs attention.
  • Tone Changer: use it when the message needs a more professional, friendly or casual delivery.
  • Paraphrase: try another way to express the same idea.
  • Translate: review the target language and intended meaning before sending.

If Textify is missing or AI tools do not respond

  • Confirm Textify appears in Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards.
  • Use the keyboard-switch key to select it; installing the app does not make it the active keyboard everywhere.
  • Try a standard text field in another app if the original app keeps returning to the system keyboard.
  • For AI tools, check internet access and the Full Access setting, then reopen Textify.
  • Check any in-app message about feature limits or purchase status. If needed, send support your iOS and Textify versions and the exact error wording.

Common questions

Does Textify replace the Apple keyboard permanently?

No. You can switch between installed keyboards using the keyboard-switch key and remove Textify from your keyboard list in Settings.

Why does the keyboard change in a password field?

iOS uses the system keyboard in secure input contexts. Test Textify in a regular note or message field instead.

Is Full Access the same as a subscription?

No. Full Access is an iOS permission needed for the keyboard’s network-based AI tools. Paid features are controlled separately in the app.
